VIRTUAL 5:30pm - Emily Beach - How Women Lead

About Emily:

Emily was first elected to Burlingame City Council in 2015 and re-elected in 2019.  Her professional experience spans nonprofit, public, and private sectors.  After graduating from the University of Notre Dame (B.A. Government and Spanish) Emily served as a U.S. Army officer in Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Texas. Later, she worked as a business executive in Silicon Valley, non-profit leader, and community volunteer. As an elected official, her policy work focuses on transportation and sustainability.  She served two years as Chairperson of the San Mateo County Transportation Authority, and is the current Vice Chair of Commute.org. She is also a member of the County’s Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee and Congestion Management and Environmental Quality Committee.  At the State level, Emily represents Peninsula Cities from San Francisco to San Jose on the Board of Directors for the League of California Cities.  In her free time, Emily loves playing guitar and spending time outdoors cycling and backpacking with her two teenagers and husband.
