September 11th Chapter Meeting
Title: Mind Over Stress: Three Key Actions for Rewiring Your Brain to Beat Stress
Speaker: Lucretia Donahue-Reed
Description: This presentation explains how using our understanding of physiology/biology, cognitive-behavioral learning, how the brain works, and mindfulness methods can give us the ability to take control of our stress reaction. Instead of feeling overwhelmed and ruled by our automatic responses to perceived stress, we can use awareness and choice along with certain practices to moderate the physical, mental, and emotional symptoms of stress.
Three Things Attendees Can Expect to Learn:
- The importance of calming the nervous system
- The importance of choosing where to place your attention
- How to use mindful awareness to head off automatic reactions
