Title: Breaking Up with Diet Culture: How to Nourish Your Body without Deprivation
Diet culture has been shaping women’s lives for centuries. Its roots can even be traced back to ancient Greece. In more recent decades, it’s taken many different forms: Low-Fat, High-Carb, the Zone Diet, the Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet, Beverly Hills Diet, Keto Diet, Whole30, and the Carnivore Diet to name a few. Each one has promised transformation, confidence, and control—but few have delivered lasting peace with food or body.
Instead, diet culture has left generations of women feeling like they’re never doing enough or being enough. It’s created guilt around eating, confusion around nutrition, and pressure to fit into unrealistic ideals. And for many women over 40, hormonal changes add another layer of frustration. Despite eating less and exercising more, their bodies no longer respond the way they once did.
It’s time for a different approach—one that honors how women’s bodies actually work.
Therese lives in the Denver area where she runs her practice, Live Bright Nutrition Therapy. Therese’s journey into the holistic nutrition field included her own journey with autoimmunity, which led her to learn as much as she could about how nutrition and lifestyle can heal the body. She is passionate about teaching women how to restore and maintain their best health through customized nutrition and lifestyle strategies. Her motto is: When you give the body what it needs, it will respond and heal. It will respond and thrive.
