Summary: Music can be used in many different ways in people’s lives. Sometimes it’s used for entertainment, cultural events, healing, or bonding. During this presentation you will learn how people have traditionally used music, how music benefits the brain and body, and music therapy as a behavioral science. Learn how to use music therapeutically for yourself and others through drumming, songwriting, and other music-based interactions.
Question: If you were a genre of music what would you be and why?
Bio: Samantha is a board-certified neurologic music therapist, a Positive Discipline Parent Educator, an Intervention Professional, and a registered Music Together teacher. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University and completed her Masters of Music with a specialization in Music Therapy degree from Colorado State University. She has worked with many different populations as a music therapist including early childhood education, special education, assisted living facilities, mental health facilities, and wellness programs. She has worked with children and adults with special needs for 17 years.
When she is not working, Samantha enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and extended family. They enjoy fishing, camping, and other outdoor adventures.
