Reno/Sparks In-Person Food Bank Volunteer Day 12/5/2026

Reno/Sparks In-Person Food Bank Volunteer Day 12/5/2026

“The Food Bank of Northern Nevada connects families and individuals to the food and resources they need to thrive. Working with more than 155 partner agencies and through direct service programs, we create opportunities for over 160,000 neighbors each month to access fresh, nourishing meals. This includes children, seniors, and others working toward brighter futures. What began as a small pantry has grown into a regional hub of hope. For more than 40years, we have proudly served northern Nevada and the eastern Sierra in California. Last fiscal year, we provided over 21 million meals, fueling resilience and well-being across our communities."

In keeping with our commitment of making an impact in our local community, we will again be sorting and boxing donations in the warehouse at the Food Bank.  So, if giving back to the local Community is your jam, this is a great way to log in some community volunteer hours and help supply Holiday meals to needy families in Northern Nevada.  And, we'll be done just in time to stop for lunch somewhere on the way home for anyone that wants to join us, where we can further connect and get to know each other better.

Members, guests, and children 8 years of age or older are welcome!  If you have not previously volunteered at the Food Bank, there is a short online application that you will need to complete prior to our volunteer day.  Just click on the link below.

*IMPORTANT INFORMATION*

  • Please register by NOON on December 3rd, so we can give the Food Bank a final head count.  Conversely, if you need to cancel, please do so by December 3rd.
  • Children must be 8 years of age or older to volunteer; children under the age requirement will not be allowed in the warehouse.
  • All volunteers, including children, must have a volunteer application on file.  If you complete it prior to our volunteer day, it makes it faster and easier to check in at the warehouse.  If you have previously volunteered at the Food Bank, you already have one on file.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing that you are not afraid to get dirty and allows you to bend and move.  We will be unpacking and sorting canned an packaged food from bins in the warehouse, so this is not a fashion show.
  • CLOSED TOED SHOES are required by the Food Bank, athletic shoes or boots are recommended.  This is a standard warehouse safety requirement, so leave the cute flipflops and sandals at home.  Remember, you will be lifting and carrying trays of packaged food and beverages across the warehouse.
  • Leave your valuables at home or lock them in your car.  We will be working in an open warehouse with other volunteers and warehouse staff, and there is nowhere to safely stow purses and other valuables.  If you must bring a purse or wallet into the warehouse, a small crossbody or fanny pack is recommended.
