SPEAKER: Heather Morris

Heather is an enthusiastic bundle of energy and passion. She is known for her infectious smile and optimism – sometimes it is what it is – but how we choose to approach problems can have a tremendous impact on the world around us.

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and former financial statement auditor for a Top-20 National CPA firm, Heather gained experience working with clients in a variety of industries – from tiny non-profits to large healthcare entities – and almost everything in between. As a financial statement auditor, she acted as a project manager for each engagement, testing the material accuracy of the client’s accounting, assisting clients with the preparation of their financials, and aiding clients in the identification of internal control / process weaknesses and best practice recommendations.

Currently Heather works full-time as the Controller for CapEd Federal Credit Union, one of the largest Credit Unions in the state of Idaho. CapEd is a member-owned financial cooperative with a mission of supporting education and providing nothing short of EPIC member services and experiences. As Controller Heather gets to manage the accounting department, as well as collaborate with other departments regarding developing and maintaining crucial internal control structures and risk management initiatives. Managing business risks through proper structures and tools is one of Heather’s many passions – she is also certified as CUERME (Credit Union Enterprise Risk Management Expert).

A person who struggles to sit still too long – Heather and her husband, Logan Morris, have founded Macarize LLC, a financial consulting firm, focusing on financial modeling, business optimization, and risk management.

Outside of her professional loves Heather enjoys spending her spare moments with her adorable family – including her husband, their two children, and various furry family members. Her hobbies include crafting of all types, especially Disney-inspired projects, gaming, and drinking lots and lots of coffee.
